Realistic Expectations

Here is some data on capital campaigns and what to expect:

  • A capital campaign should raise 2-3 times annual giving over the course of three years.
  • In a well-done campaign, annual giving goes up 7% each year through the campaign.
  • Planned Giving efforts usually raise the same amount as the capital campaign over the long term.
  • The typical ratio of spending to pledges is 10:1. Ours has been more like to 25:1.
